Chocolait Chauds and Candy Coloured Macaroons in Biarritz

The Boyfriend and I spent the weekend before last in the beachy town of Biarritz. Think of a mini Paris perched on picturesque surfing beaches, add to that a Californian vibe and an impossible amount of quaint cafes and bustling bistros. We wandered through the Saturday food market, our basket piled sky high with cured hams, homemade chocolates and potted jams. Lunch entailed plates laden with tasty tapas nibbles and demi beers (a demi peche for the madmoiselle) in Le Comptoir du Foie Gras. Antique shop after antique shop lured us in time after time. I fell in love with the 18th Century butterfly hat pictured below, perhaps Philip Treacy has been to Biarritz also! Next stop was Bayonne for afternoon tea and macaroon treats...oops it seems there are two sugary delights missing from that picture I better go replace them before somebody notices...
