Button Up for Winter.... My Guide to Shopping for THE Must Have Coat!

Last Year I splashed out on a military style, velvet twill, burgundy coat from Karen Millen. "It will do you for two years, go on you need it, you'll only regret it later if you don't"... I told myself at the time. I still love it, but now, a vast new winter is upon us and I have coat envy. Here are some of my top winter picks to keep us ladies snug as a bug this frosty season. I've tried to keep it highstreet so as to avoid any broken hearts ;)

Karen Millen you already have my money now please stop taunting me with this fab cowl neck, A-line, figure flatterer! Not to mention the scarlet twist on the wardrobe staple that is the mac.

I am always on the look-out for a smart black coat and I think this is the one! Look at the lapels! The kicked out skirt and nipped in waist, and those matte black buttons with flower detailing. Visit Reiss to see more tailored classics.

Wool coat with ruched waist detail by Andrea Buzyn (not quite highstreet but I do like it so!)

Not sure how warm this will keep me,  but I have already mentally teamed it up with my skinnies and ankle booties. This fringe detail leather jacket is by Muubaa.

The above jacket by Dahlia is perfect for those dressed down days. I especially love the back bow feature and hood lining detail.

This on-trend Teal number is by South and it is available on Little Woods website for a snip at £88. I see it with cream wool tights or over the knee stockings, scruffy open laced biker boots and a mini floral print mini dress.

Don't judge my taste until you try it on!! Imagine this worn open, layered over a mini dress, slip into some coloured opaques and some ankle booties and you have instant rock girl appeal :) Anyway at £30 in Primark I can afford to get it wrong!

This vintage coat teleports me to Central Park at Christmas time, I'm standing with a hot chocolate warming my mitted hands, as I watch the ice-skaters whirl around the rink. I can't afford the trip or the coat but maybe you can, see it in Selvage Boutiques Vintage store.
